Welcome to Harbor Light - a fellowship of believers with a heart to be genuine followers of Jesus Christ who demonstrate His compassionate love for all. We also desire to “keep it simple”, not complicating our faith with man-made religion, rules or routines which isolate us from the very people He calls us to reach. Here are a few scriptures which provide the basis for our primary philosophy and approach to ministry:

Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40

“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.” Matthew 15:8-9

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:11-13

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:17-18

Our Affiliation

Harbor Light is affiliated with a world-wide family of churches known as The

Foursquare Church. A more complete presentation of The Foursquare Church and its

thorough and informative, and we invite and encourage you to visit the site often.

WHY WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH THIS MOVEMENT

Our Pastors are Ordained Ministers with The Foursquare Church.
The Foursquare Church provides legal and spiritual accountability for Harbor Light.
Our affiliation allows our church to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible.
The Foursquare Church is made up of over 30,000 churches in over 120 different countries.
Our affiliation allows Harbor Light to participate in one of the strongest missionary organizations in the world whose main goal is to plant churches and train national leaders to carry on the work of reaching the world with the gospel.
It also provides additional equipping and fellowship with believers through our Bible Colleges, Conferences, Conventions, Camps, Retreats and many other ‘family’ benefits.

Our Core Beliefs

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe the Bible is God-inspired. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

THE ETERNAL GODHEAD

We believe God is Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (2 Cor 13:14)

THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by

voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection. (Romans 5:12)

THE PLAN OF SALVATION

We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, signing

the pardon of all who believe on Him. (John 3:16; Romans 5:8)

SALVATION THROUGH GRACE

We believe that we have no righteousness and must come to God

pleading the righteousness of Christ. (Ephesians 2:8)

REPENTANCE AND ACCEPTANCE

We believe that upon sincere repentance, and a whole-hearted

acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God. (I John 1:9)

THE NEW BIRTH

We believe that the change which takes place in the heart and life at

conversion is a very real one. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20)

DAILY CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe that it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily,

growing constantly in the faith. (Hebrews 6:1)

BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER

We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward

work. (Matt. 28:19) We believe in the commemoration of the Lord's

Supper by the symbolic use of the bread and juice of the vine.

(1 Corinthians 11:24, 25)

BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is to endue the

believer with power; and that His incoming is after the same manner

pf His first coming to the Church. (Acts 2:4; )

THE GIFTS AND FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon the Christian;

and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled

life. (I Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22)

MODERATION

We believe that the experience and daily walk of the believer should

never lead him into extremes of fanaticism. (Philippians 4:5)

DIVINE HEALING

We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the

physically sick in answer to the prayer of faith. (James 5:14-16)

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent.

(I Thessalonians 4:16, 17)

CHURCH RELATIONSHIP

We believe it is our sacred duty to identify ourselves with the visible

Body of Christ. (Acts 16:5; Hebrews 10:25)

CIVIL GOVERNMENT

We believe that rulers should be upheld at all times except in things

opposed to the will of God. (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:1-4)

THE FINAL JUDGEMENT

We believe that all shall stand some day before the judgement seat of

God, and there receive eternal life or death. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

HEAVEN & HELL

We believe that Heaven is the glorious eternal home of all born-again

believers. (John 14:1-3; Revelation 7:15-17) We believe that hell is

the place of eternal torment for all who reject Christ as Savior.

(Revelation 20:10,15)

EVANGELISM

We believe that soul winning is the most important responsibility of

the Church. (Matthew 28:19-20; James 5:20)

TITHES AND OFFERINGS

We believe that the method ordained of God for the support and

spread of His cause is by giving of tithes and free-will offerings.

(Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7)

Our Five-fold Purpose

1. ENCOUNTERING GOD TOGETHER - The Priority of Worship and Prayer

Worship – Not just a few songs we sing to begin a Service, but as an entry into God’s presence that we may personally and corporately meet with Him, for it is in His presence that we are changed. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Prayer – Because we’re called to pray and invite God’s reign into human affairs. (Matthew 6:10; Luke 18:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

2. ENJOYING GOD’S FAMILY – Fellowship and Ministry to One Another

There are over three dozen scriptures in the NT that refer specifically to our relationship with one another.
John 13:34, 35; John 15:12; Galatians 6:2; James 5:16

3. EQUIPPING BELIEVERS – The Process of Discipleship

This is the primary responsibility that leaders have in the Church.
Ephesians 4:11,12

4. EXTENDING GOD’S KINGDOM – Having a Missional Motivation

Evangelism/Outreach - To our family, friends, community and the world!
Romans 10:14-15

5. ENGAGING OUR CULTURE – Being World-changers!

Salt and Light in the midst of a dark and dying world.

How You Can Become Involved

As a well established church with a rich and fruitful history, Harbor Light is

currently in a stage of ‘revitalization’. Because of this there are many areas of ministry that are in transition, or new ministries yet to be born. Some that are already in place need others to join in and make them more effective. In short, there are a lot of ways to get involved – and there are the kind of opportunities that one might not easily find in other churches, large or small.
